At Lower Heath, we pride ourselves on the range of opportunities available to our children; we believe that it is very important for children to have the chance to try lots of different activities at a young age and we do our best to offer as wide a range of activities as possible.
After school clubs are offered to children of all year groups, and we try to vary those offered throughout the year so that children have a wide choice available. In the last twelve months, we have offered a range of clubs including: fencing, netball, mixed sports, beginners ballet, drama, board games, football, maypole dancing, Bible craft and Saints Alive.
Clubs are run either by staff, outside specialists and helpers or parent volunteers; therefore the range that we are able to offer depends largely on offers of help that we receive. At the start of every term, we write to parents informing them of the clubs to be offered for each age group and ask parents to indicate which ones their child would like to attend. We also ask children to write a small amount to tell us what they would like to learn from doing each club; this enables us to tailor the clubs to the children’s needs, and encourages children to think carefully about why they want to do each club. We are always very grateful for any help that parents can offer to us for clubs, and if you would like to help us in this way, please see Mrs. Adkins or Mrs Sadler.
