Today has been a busy but exciting day! We started off with an assembly led by St John's Ambulance, where children learnt about the emergency services, how to contact them and the information we need to give them in case of an emergency. After that, they all received some first aid training - their certificates will be sent into school within the next two weeks to show that they are all trained first aiders!
Later in the day, the children received some road safety training from a visiting speaker, and they all left school with a road safety certificate.
Back in their classrooms, each class focused on different aspects of safety and people who keep us safe. For example, Beech Class focused on how to stay safe online, and who to speak to if they are unhappy about any of their online experiences. In Elm Class, it was lovely to see so many of the children dressed up as people who keep us safe!
I am sure that today has been a really useful day for all of the children, and they have learnt things which they wouldn't typically learn about during a normal school day. Many thanks to Mrs Gallimore-Johnson who planned many of the activities which took place today, and to Friends of Lower Heath for funding the first aid training.
