Welcome back! I hope you all had a super summer break.
Our term has got off to an exciting start with our fantastic 'Food' topic launch day.
We had some amazing costumes on display today - just look at the photographs below!
Thanks to James Sherwin, local chef, for running some brilliant food tasting sessions, and thanks also to Maxine Chidlow for putting us in touch with him.
Thank you to Leah Vigon, for talking to the older children about food in Jewish festivals, and sharing with them some tasty bread!
We are also very grateful to Rod Macbean, who has provided us with information, activity booklets and goodies from the National Farmers' Union to support our topic. He has also sourced some life-sized cow and calf models for us to use throughout the term!
Finally, thank you to everyone who contributed something to the day, whether it was an exciting costume or some authentic food made using a secret family recipe. Much fun was had by all, and this was down to a huge team effort.
The children have tried new foods, learnt about where in the world certain foods originate from, what our food contains in terms of nutrients, and what makes up a healthy, balanced meal. What a worthwhile day! We are looking forward to seeing what the rest of the topic will entail!
