We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games BRONZE Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
We look forward to organising even more sporting opportunities for our pupils this year.
In another exiting development, we are also delighted to announce that we at Lower Heath are going to have a ‘Daily Mile’ running track installed on our school field. The ‘Daily Mile’ has been running for the past year and our school field is looking a little worse for wear as a result of many hundreds of laps being run on a weekly basis by our children. In order to alleviate this problem and provide our children with a fantastic all- weather surface on which to run, in the summer term, we applied for funding from the Healthy Schools’ Capital Fund. Along with other Primary Schools in Shropshire, we have been allocated funding to have a track installed. We are due to have our first site visit next week and we will keep you informed of the progress of our new track.
